Transparent, translucent and opaque materials.

Our Science this term looks to answer the big question "How does light help us see and make shadows?" As a target memory of this unit, the children have been learning that the words transparent, translucent and opaque are used to describe how much light passes through an object. During the lesson, we tested different materials to see how much light passed through them. We then went round the school looking for transparent, translucent and opaque materials and their benefits in different situations.

Year 3 Recorder lessons.

Class 3 have started their music lessons. These lessons will take place each week, finishing a few weeks before Christmas. The children are all very keen and have learned how to control their breathing to ensure they create a nice sound. They have also begun to learn how to read musical symbols. 

Cotswold Wildlife Park

Class 3 enjoyed a visit to the Cotswold Wildlife Park this week. The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing lots of animals and were great ambassadors for the school. The grumpy rhinos and very active penguins were highlights from a great day.

Class 3 - Autumn 2026

Welcome to Year 3 and the start of another exciting year. We have lots of new topics to cover this year and the class is excited to get going. We will be learning about light and dark and electricity in science, how children's lives have changed in history and UK in geography. 

The children have been very excited and enthusiastic in their first days back of what promises to be a great term.
