Why we chose Bussage Primary School
Daniel Williams, a parent with two children currently at Bussage explains why he and his partner chose the school for their family:
When I first thought about primary school, I imagined it was mostly about colouring in and learning the basics – nothing that would have a huge impact on my children’s lives. How wrong I was! When my daughter started school, I quickly realised just how important those early years are, not only for her learning, but also for her happiness, confidence, and outlook on life.
I now have two children at Bussage Primary – my daughter in Year 5 and my son in Year 2 – and I couldn’t be happier with the choice we made. Of course, I’ve seen them develop their reading, writing, and maths, but I’ve also watched their personalities shine and their confidence blossom.
One of the biggest things that stood out to us when we moved to Bussage two years ago was the school’s focus on mental and emotional wellbeing. Bussage really understands that if a child isn’t happy, they can’t thrive academically. That commitment to wellbeing runs through the whole school like a golden thread, and it has made such a difference to our family.
We’ve also been really impressed with the way lessons are taught through themes. This approach helps children see how subjects connect to one another and why they matter in the real world. It’s brilliant preparation for a future where critical thinking and seeing the bigger picture are so important.
Another reason we love Bussage is the outdoor learning opportunities. From the Forest School space to the huge playing field and tranquility garden, the children have plenty of room to explore, play, and learn about nature. We’ve really valued the way the school teaches children to care for the environment and to understand their role in protecting it.
And finally – perhaps the most important reason – Bussage just feels welcoming. From the very first visit, we could see that staff genuinely care about the children, and every time we step into the school, that same warmth and positivity shines through.
Choosing a primary school is such an important decision, and for us, Bussage Primary has been the perfect place for our children to learn, grow, and thrive.
